When I try to scan, a message says : "The scanner is not connected, or it is locked." I'm sure it IS connected, and it is NOT locked. I really don't know what the problem is. Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the USB connector? I recently connected a 630U to my G4 and got the same message.

If you have to reboot the computer to get a SCSI device recognised something is wrong with your computer...it has nothing to do with it being a SCSI device... -peter Don't think so. My SCSI-connected CanoScan scanner will not function unless the scanner is turned on *before* the PC is booted.

I have just bought a Canon FB310 CanoScan Scanner. I have connected to my parallel port and done all the stuff required in the installaion instructions. When I fire up the Scanner utilities program which fires the thing up it freezes my mouse and won't unfreeze it without a reboot. I guess this is some kind of HW
